THE FLOOD BABIES

THE FLOOD BABIES

The 2018 flood came with many stories untold…. We arrived just like every other day Crowds gathered cheerfully and hopeful Moments later, in the midst of all difficulties, a baby was born. God gave us a gift - the gift of life. When the doctors confirmed that the mother had to be rushed to the hospital for further treatment, We couldn’t help but worry more knowing we will have to let go of this the beauty baby in our hands. Our heads were beaming with thoughts ; the story of how Jesus was born, We practically refused to let go.
Special thanks to all our volunteers, the medical team on ground, our donors and to all those who understand the reason for the season and the pains it brings to everyone. Today, While our team continues, Some of us will be spending our time appealing to your hearts - let us all do whatever we can do to give that family a reason to smile. We want to specially thank Preye Oseke and Douye Diri for standing by us. There are more flood babies expected soon.

The gift of life has always being the best gift of all The flood brought fire and fury of Noahic proportions Damaging everything in it’s path Alas! It also brought the Best gift of life- babies.
Women go through a lot. Added to the troubles of pregnancy and childbirth, the problems magnify and if you imagine how this plays out even in this terrible flood season where pregnant women are rendered homeless, you can only but become overwhelmed by the wonders of God Almighty. Today, we are going to the camps to give support to the 21 nursing mothers and their babies. Am proud to say they are doing well. But they need all the support we all can give them. This receding flood did more harm than you can imagine!

Like the thief in the night, the flood came to steal, kill and destroy knocked down trees, destroyed livelihoods, houses and render people homeless, Submerge schools and streets. Even new born are not left out as they are sentenced to weeks of cold, pain, tears and mosquito bites. While families wallow in pains over this devastating flood that has rendered children, women, and the old vulnerable to diseases, molestations and attacks, there is an urgent need to take a bold step in curbing this menace.

On Saturday 10th November, again and as planned, we visited three IDP camps to give support to some out of the 21 nursing mothers and their babies born during the flood as part of our Health program ( obstetrics). We will continue in the coming days.
It was amazing seeing the babies we saw weeks ago growing fast even in this trying time- What an amazing God!
