With the devastation that the 2018 flood brought to the People of Bayelsa state, many
were rendered homeless and without basic needs. As a foundation, we launched a flood
relief programme (GOFRES) that provided food, medication and other welfare materials for
children, mothers and families in the 5 designated internally displaced Camps (IDPS) in
the state including Igbogene, Igbedi amongst others.
Our team of volunteers, partners and donors joined us in the fight to restore the humanity
of the victims of this natural crisis.
Just like the ravaging flood of 2012, the flood ravaged communities in the state in the
past couple of weeks and this time, it is even more devastating.
Many were affected in the State like some other places in the country.
A lot of people were left homeless; without food, clothing and medication. It was a disaster.
However, through the efforts of Goldcoast Developmental Foundation and other selfless
individuals and medical professionals, the ordeals of the people affected by the flood were
alleviated.
During this time, the foundation mapped a strategic plan on how to provide aid to victims
of this tragedy, taking into account the urgency involved.
We worked with other team members as well as team of volunteers for this purpose.
